Budget Petition

Have you SIGNED THE PETITION yet?

This petition tells our Superintendent, Board of Education, and the Board of County Commissioners that Stronger Schools = Stronger Forsyth, and to lead staff and students through this crisis. Fund the following priorities to attract and retain our exceptional staff, and to provide the support our students need and deserve:

$4.4 million for Classified Staff Raises

Classified staff plays a critical role in supporting our schools, yet many staff members face financial hardships. Meaningful raises are needed across all classified sectors and will make Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools competitive with the top 5 urban districts in North Carolina.

$4.4 million in a Certified Supplement Increase

Fair and competitive supplements will enable the district to retain dedicated and talented educators, who are vital to student success.

Additional School Counselors

The mental health of our students is paramount. Adding counselors to our schools ensures every student can access the resources and care needed to succeed academically. Approximately 70 new counselors are needed to align with the American School Counselor Association's recommendation of a 1:250 counselor-to-student ratio.

Additional Exceptional Children (EC) Case Managers

Our exceptional students require individualized support to thrive. Each of the 81 schools in our district should have their own EC Case Manager. At a time when inclusionary practices are increasing within the district, these supports will maximize staff's ability to meet the needs of EC students in the classroom.
